IN BRIEF

  • This Monday, January 6, 2025, Apolline de Malherbe questioned the national financial prosecutor
  • And his questions about the trial of Nicolas Sarkozy which opens today
  • The innuendos are then heavy with meaning

This Monday, January 6, 2025, Nicolas Sarkozy is once again before the courts, this time for suspicions of illegal financing of his 2007 presidential campaign. Carla Bruni's husband is then tried for “illegal financing of an electoral campaign”, “passive corruption”, “concealment of embezzlement of public funds” and “criminal association”.

Although he denies the facts with which he is accused, the former President of the Republic is in the sights of the judges who consider that he was very well aware of the “actions which, most of the time, were initiated by (his) close relations”. Invited the same day on the BFMTV set, the national financial prosecutor came to say more Apolline de Malherbe on this case.

Jean-François Bonhert then mentions Ziad Takieddine's retraction. In November 2020, the latter, who is in Lebanon, will exonerate Nicolas Sarkozy in this legal case. But a year later, he again accuses the head of state. So a judicial investigation was opened for witness tampering. In this case, the name of Carla Bruni is cited.

And clearly, Jean-François Bonhert has his own opinion on the matter. “This retraction for you, it was staging, in a way, and perhaps even monetized”, indicates Apolline de Malherbe who then indicates: “I specify for those who are listening to us at the radio, that you give a little smile, you even raise your eyes with a form of mischief, you consider that this retraction of Ziad Takieddine is a set-up”.

Is Carla Bruni going to be condemned ?

This &agrave what, the national financial prosecutor replies: “For me, she is questioning. And if she is questioning, we will soon have the answer, since an investigation is underway, a judicial inquiry has been opened precisely on these elements, we suspect a form of subornation of witnesses”, he specifies. But the prosecutor indicates that he cannot say more.

Apolline de Malherbe then concludes: “With the complicity of Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, Mimi Marchand, Paris Match”. At this stage of the investigation, the prosecutor cannot state a position.
