Ce jeudi 30 janvier 2025, le centre hospitalier François-Tosquelles de Saint-Alban-sur-Limagnole (Lozère) a présenté un dispositif inédit pour la prise en charge des adultes en situation de handicap.
On January 30, 2025, the François-Tosquelles hospital center in Saint-Alban-sur-Limagnole (Lozère) unveiled an initiative aimed at improving the care of adults with disabilities. This system is based on two medium- and long-term care services: the Reinforced Orientation Unit (URO) and the Regional Evaluation Unit (URE).
The URO intervenes on the front line to quickly assess patients in crisis and refer them to suitable structures. It plays a key role in streamlining care pathways and reducing prolonged hospitalizations.
200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000For its part, the URE is dedicated to in-depth psychiatric assessment, particularly for patients with severe disorders or requiring forensic expertise.
“A project in progress is an organization that is being set up,” emphasizes Christophe Verduzier, the director of the establishment.
In place for three years, this system is still in the test phase. However, it already seems to be fulfilling its role. Several people present were able to testify about it, and the feedback is positive, suggesting an encouraging impact for the future.
Composed of pairs of a nursing assistant and a nurse, these teams are tasked with providing enhanced support to patients and healthcare professionals.
This system is intended to complement the medical-psychological centers, as the head psychiatrist, Laurent Cerrato, emphasized: “We are not in competition with the CMPs, it is a complementarity.”
The mobile teams are in direct contact with various establishments welcoming adults with disabilities, such as work support establishments and services (Esat), residential homes, as well as medicalized reception centers and homes (FAM and MAS).
This internal coordination makes it possible to ensure appropriate monitoring and to intervene as closely as possible to the needs of patients, in complementarity with existing structures.
The main objective of these mobile units is clear: to reduce patients' suffering and support the care teams in their daily work.
One of the major assets of this project lies in the flexibility of the care: no time limit for care or limitation is imposed, even if the hospital reminds us that its role “is not to be a place to live”.
