A new business opened its doors on Friday, December 6 at 68 rue de la République in Bagnols-sur-Cèze. “The House of Geek” is a store dedicated mainly, as its name suggests, to the geek universe. “It was my husband who had the idea for this project 4 years ago, confides Caroline Thouvenot, the manager. We've been immersed in this universe for a long time. I got tired of my previous jobs. I wanted to run a business in my own way so werelaunched the project last June and here it is finally coming to fruition!”

The store is overflowing with Harry Potter and Pokémon pop figures, movie and series merchandise, cards, etc. The 24-year-old manager also offers Asian and American food and sodas with unusual flavors. “There are fun tastings to do with the family”, she jokes. The central island of the 40 m2 premises will change “every two months” with new products to appeal to teenagers and young adults. For this opening, it is the world of Harry Potter that has been highlighted. “We are big fans, we even got married on this theme”, confides the manager who recovered some decorations from her wedding for her shop.

“You have to dare to open”

While shops tend to pull down the curtain rather than raise it on Rue de la République, Caroline Thouvenot is rather confident. “There is always fear behind it but it is the same problem in all city centers. You have to dare to open because if everything stays closed, customers will increasingly desert it. I know it will work in the long term.” La Bagnolaise “couldn't see itself opening anywhere else”. “I grew up here, in Bagnols, I really like the rue de la République, people must be happy to see a new shop open.”

Open Monday from 2pm to 7pm, Tuesday to Friday from 9am to 1:30pm and 2:30pm to 7pm and Saturday from 9am to 7pm.
