A student campus project at the Béziers hospital center

While around 90 interns work year-round at the Béziers hospital center, the current CHB boarding school only offers 18 accommodations. A state of affairs that could be a thing of the past by 2027. The project for a vast campus is in the pipeline. The aim is to set up a structure with a capacity of 110 places: “It will be built on the site of the current boarding school, explains Carole Gleizes, the director of medical affairs, finance and communication at the Béziers establishment. It will be dedicated to interns but also to medical and health students who are, for example, doing an internship at the hospital and do not live in Béziers.”

Finding €14 million in funding

The construction of the facility has been estimated at around €14 million (€11.80 million excluding VAT). If it is approved and therefore partly financed by the State, the Region, the Regional Health Agency (ARS), the Béziers Méditerranée urban community (Robert Ménard has announced that this will be the case) and potential patrons, it will be completed in two phases. The first will provide 55 accommodations and will be launched in July 2027. The other 55 single rooms and the end of the work (still subject to obtaining funding) have been scheduled for 2031.

The aim of this program is to “strengthen the attractiveness of the hospital center for interns and externs, to facilitate the installation of interns or doctors, to group accommodation on the same site”. Concentrating everything on the campus will also make it possible to “reduce the carbon impact of students”.

Gym, outdoor spaces, parking spaces, relaxation and coworking areas, the campus will have all the structures necessary for the well-being of its residents.
