Rumors about the iPhone 16 Pro, which will not arrive until September, are already numerous on the web. And among these rumors are those which suggest that Apple should refine the borders on its next models. For example, one of these rumors suggests that the Cupertino company would use a new technology called Border Reduction Structure to make the borders around the screen thinner and less visible.

And today, things are becoming clearer. In an article published this weekend, the Phone Arena site relays a source from the Chinese social network Weibo, which mentions the dimensions of the borders of the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max. According to this, the Pro model would have 1.2 mm borders, while the Pro Max model would have 1.15 mm borders. As usual, caution remains in order. But if this information is correct, the iPhone 16 Pro could look significantly better compared to its predecessor.

< h2>Another more radical change for the screen ?

And that's not all. For several days, the media have discussed the possibility that Apple will announce a significant change for the FaceID sensor. In an article, the Telegraph discussed the possible closure of a factory of Coherent, a manufacturer of electronic chips, in the United Kingdom. This closure would be due to the end of orders from the main customer. However, this would be a factory manufacturing components for Apple's FaceID sensor. “Unfortunately, the supply to the main customer ceased at the end of the 2023” financial year, indicates a press release from the British subsidiary of Coherent. “This calls into question the viability of the company. A strategic review of the company is currently underway with potential new technologies and/or sale of the company as options being explored.”

For some media, it is possible that Apple has stopped ordering components for the FaceID module from this factory because it is preparing new technology for FaceID. And it would even be possible that Apple is preparing to equip its future iPhones with technology that would hide the FaceID sensor under the screen. But of course, for the moment, these are only hypotheses.

In any case, Apple would greatly improve the design of the iPhone s he manages to hide FaceID. Currently, to hide the FaceID sensor and front camera on the iPhone 15 series, Apple uses the Dynamic Island feature island.

  • Rumors suggest that Apple will make the bezels around the screen thinner on the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max
  • A source from social network Weibo claims that it already knows the dimensions of these borders
  • Thinner borders can greatly improve the design of the iPhone compared to previous models< /li>
  • In addition, recent news also suggests that Apple may have developed new technology to make the FaceID sensor more discreet
