The Beaucaire nursery is still there
#GARD On December 20, 2024, the Human Rights League won its case before the Nîmes administrative court. The mayor of Beaucaire had to remove the Nativity scene installed in the town hall within 48 hours and under penalty of 1,000 euros per day.
The LDH believes that the nativity scene is still in place and is asking for nearly 20,000 euros. Me Mazas, the lawyer for the LDH, said “particularly shocked. How come the prefecture does not take into account the authority of res judicata ?”. The decision should be made quickly.
House to be destroyed
#GARD/VAUCLUSE A huge house built illegally in Gordes in the Luberon attributed to a billionaire from Eastern Europe was at the center of a trial before the Nîmes Court of Appeal. At first instance, the lawyer of this man who is said to be worth six billion euros had insisted on the fact that his client was not being judged and remained totally foreign to the completion of the work. On appeal, the attorney general requested a record fine of one million euros and the demolition of the building.

#GARD This is the amount of the gold coin in euros that amateur fishermen are invited to win in the original game launched by a fish farmer from Allègre-les-Fumades. To celebrate Epiphany, Melvin Quentin from the Fontaine d'Arlinde fish farm has chipped one of the many trout in the three pools.
Whoever catches it will take home a gold coin. This contest, organized for the first time, is much more than a simple competition: “It's an invitation to spend a pleasant time with family.”
The truffle holiday season has begun
#HÉRAULTFor its 19th edition, on Sunday, the Saint-Geniès-des-Mourgues truffle festival is keeping the same recipe based on simplicity. It marks the opening of the local festivals. It is also the best time to harvest the black diamond. It attracts between 5,000 and 6,000 people to the streets of the town each year.
21 truffle producers are expected and a large market will be set up in the streets of the village. Various local products will be on sale. In the middle of the day, a truffle meal is also offered with a price for everyone of 65 euros.
The main attraction of the day will be the demonstrations of Babar, the truffle-hunting pig. An activity that is always very nice to watch for children and adults alike. This festival is also very important for the town and the metropolis in order to promote rural heritage. The truffle market opens at 8:30 a.m. after checking the quality of the mushrooms.
They demonstrate to support isolated minors
#GARD Around twenty demonstrators from the Alès Solidarity Assembly gathered on Friday, January 10, in Nîmes to alert departmental elected officials about the situation of unaccompanied minors (MNA) in the Gard. “Our assembly supports several dozen minors left without any help, due to the refusal of their minority. This situation is unbearable”, deplores an activist.
The recent death, alone in her home, Awa, a young Ivorian woman supported by the Ase, was on everyone's mind during the vote on the departmental budget. An envelope of €11 million was allocated this year to the reception of unaccompanied minors. A hotel project to accommodate unaccompanied minors is also underway.
