For several weeks, tensions have been rising at the wild market of La Paillade, a few steps from the Quatre-Saisons market halls and its law-abiding traders. To the point that last Saturday, December 21, a dozen hooded people armed with mortars fired on these fruit and vegetable sellers who operate mainly “at the back of the truck”, on the ground. One customer was even injured. The market traders had denounced this act while calling on the State and the City to take responsibility.

“If we don't do this, what do we do ? We're going to steal ?”

This Saturday, December 28 in the morning, the police, accompanied by the chief of staff of the Prefect of Hérault, Thibaut Félix, came to try to restore some order on the spot, while only about ten vendors had turned up. Without any real clashes but with a certain verbal tension. “If we don't do that, what are we going to do? We're going to steal?”, one of the illegal traders replied to the state representative in the discussion.

Around 10:30, the wild market was closed, the products seized. It remains to be seen whether this operation will have any effect. All the previous ones have only had the consequence of delaying the installation of these trucks from Spain.
