For several months, Abbé Pierre has been the subject of accusations of sexual assault. The facts were revealed in the newspaper La Croix on July 17, 2024, and seven women testified. The accusations continued with nine more, as reported by Le Parisien on Monday, January 13. Guest on the show C à Vous, Adrian Jaouen, journalist, made some confidences on this subject. He returned to a report broadcast after the program and in which many victims speak out.

Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine begins by recalling the facts. “A flight attendant testified at the time but no one believed her. She had claimed that the Abbot Pierre allegedly put a hand on her buttocks during the flight”, she says before mentioning two other alleged victims of the priest. “The colleagues of a young nurse who also laughed when she reported the inappropriate gesture of the priest who touched her belly while she was pregnant”,continues the host who adds:  “A 17-year-old employee is assaulted, she complains and what do they say to her ?”. Adrian Jaouen simply states: “They tell her that it's like ça”.

Abbé Pierre: a man very protected by his entourage ?

According to the journalist's information, when alleged victims spoke of facts of sexual assault, the response was not what they expected. “They are told that the Abbot Pierre is like that, he always does it, says Adrian Jaouan before continuing:  “He is also untouchable. He is a VIP, he has been one his whole life”. An implication that therefore suggests that it is useless to bring up the facts publicly, the Abbot Pierre will always be defended.

Adrian Jaouan continues his explanation by declaring that the priest has always been considered to be someone who could never do this kind of thing. “He is haloed by his past as a great resistance fighter, he is a deputy, a very respected religious man, a great fighter. He has always had this aura”,he said. According to his words, the majority of alleged victims who wished speak éwere “in a vulnerable situationé”. He would have taken advantage of certain weaknesses, He was pressing on the sensitive strings”, he concluded.

Abbé Pierre: this Polaroid which he would have used to take shocking photos

The revelations concerning Abbé Pierre are coming thick and fast. According to the information from the Parisien, he was also in possession of pictures taken with his Polaroid camera showing his alleged victims. According to one of them, the priest had forcedly kissed her before asking her to pose. He allegedly took out his Polaroid camera and took a picture, which he then put in a “drawer containing a pile of similar photos”, we can read. For her part, the victim said: “I remember thinking that all these women had experienced the same thing as me”.

For Nathalie Longuet-von Zelowitz, a psychologist and forensic expert with expertise in serial crimes, these photos could have a very particular meaning. “It looks like trophies” , she said. “We can think of a collection of victims, a need to immortalize the moment to replay it later”, the expert then specifies. Since the first alleged victims spoke out, others have come out of their silence. Among them, people who were minors at the time of the events. The total number of victims identified would be 57. “But not all of them could or wanted to be heard. Some do not wish to appear in the count”, indicates the media which specifies thereafter:  “Finally, old memories could not be consolidated by archives or the known agenda of Abbé Pierre”.
