After 60 years of existence, the volleyball club continues to grow

At the end of December, the club also mobilized for the Telethon

This is an association that has been doing well for over 60 years! The Agde volleyball club now has around 220 members of all ages spread across many teams for the most athletic… But the club also has a senior leisure team.

On a purely sporting level, the senior boys' first team plays in National II; another in pre-National.

Fifteen teams in the various championships

In the senior women's category, one team plays in the pre-Regional and another in the Regional. In total, all competitions combined, the club is involved in beach volleyball – girls and boys – and has nearly fifteen teams. For the president Christophe Burlas (10 years with the club) and Stéphane Mathurin (20 years), general manager, Agde volleyball is doing well. “We have had good results for 5 years. The players enjoy getting together and playing together. There is a great sense of conviviality, we have managed to mix experienced players with young people”, explains the president. The club manager Stéphane Mathurin feels the same way: “We are well placed in terms of the rankings at mid-season: we are third. This is a very good position when you see the level of the teams ahead of us, there are big teams up front made up of former professional players: the step is high. We have a player who plays in the first team, Eliot Piquard, who played in the French deaf handicap team”.

But the club is also an opening to young people, accepted from the age of 7. Eight youth teams are thus involved in the departmental and regional championship. Girls are largely present, representing 60% of the club's workforce. Off the field, the life of the association is punctuated by festive events throughout the year (internal tournament, evening training course for the benefit of the telethon, lottery and many others).

The life of the club can be followed on social networks (Facebook and Instagram) and on www.agdevb.com.
