In 2020, Disney+ arrived in France, determined to overshadow Netflix. Over time, Mickey's streaming platform has won the hearts of many users. So after almost five years in France, it's time to take stock.
This is how Disney held its first in-person press conference since launching its platform in France. It was also an opportunity to unveil some new features, just to whet our appetites.
Disney+, 3rd platform in France
Disney is celebrating its centenary, and Disney+ is soon to celebrate its fifth anniversary in France. A lot has happened since April 2020! In the past few months alone, Disney+ has wowed viewers with its original creations Shōgun, Children Are Kings or even Becoming Karl Lagerfeld.
Today, Disney+ is the third streaming platform in France according to Médiamétrie, just behind Netflix and Prime Video. And it intends to do even better! For next year, Disney+ has some great projects in the pipeline. Thus, 4 new original productions Made in France should arrive very soon, such as Lucky Luke with Alban Lenoir (AKA) and the sitcom Surveiller et Punir with Jean-Pascal Zadi (En Place).
200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000Good news: Disney+ has confirmed several new seasons for series that are very popular with viewers. So, The Bear, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Andor and Doctor Whowill soon be back on Disney+. Enough to relieve more than one person!
Among the various announcements last night, we can also note the upcoming arrival of international series like Alien: Earth andDaredevil: Born Again. We can't wait!
Disney+ is definitely not losing its bearings for its fifth anniversary. While the divorce of Disney+ and Canal+ is finalized, the platform will be removed from the Canal+ cinema package from January 1, 2025, Mickey's platform is driving the point home.
Next year, Canal+ will no longer have exclusivity on the Oscars ceremony. Ouch… So, it will be broadcast exclusively on Disney+. That changes the game… Julia Tenret, Disney+ Acquisitions and Programming Director, has confirmed that they will be “live from the red carpet at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on March 2 for this 97th ceremony”. This must certainly make Disney’s competitors wince. Canal+ had the exclusivity for three decades.
If Disney+’s results are positive, the future promises to be bright for the video streaming platform.
