Le maire Michaël Delafosse a annoncé l'extension de ce dispositif afin d'écarter l'habitat indigne du marché de la location à Montpellier.

The “Rental Permit”, a system that helps combat poor housing, will be extended to other neighborhoods in Montpellier. Michaël Delafosse announced it on Monday, January 6, during a lunch with the press at the Hôtel de Métropole.

Towards stronger controls

In force in Celleneuve since 2021 and part of Figuerolles since October 1, 2023, this prior rental authorization will be extended to Saint-Martin, the Cévennes and Mosson. “Ultimately, it's not bad…”, commented Michaël Delafosse who also announced “the strengthening of controls”. This system allows residents to be housed in decent conditions by eliminating poorly insulated or unrenovated apartments.

Referring to “the slum landlords of the Font Del Rey residence” in La Paillade against whom the City had filed a civil suit, the mayor also indicated that new actions would be taken with the Public Prosecutor: “We do not speculate on people's distress”, he said.
