Israel has targeted several strategic Houthi points in Yemen after a ballistic missile strike near Tel Aviv injured several people. “We will act with determination,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday that Israel would continue bombing the Houthis in Yemen, a day after the Iran-backed movement fired a ballistic missile near Tel Aviv that injured several people. “Just as we acted forcefully against the terrorist armed wings of the Iranian axis of evil (in Gaza, Lebanon and Syria, editor's note), we will act against the Houthis,” promised the Israeli Prime Minister in a video statement.

Israeli warplanes launched a series of strikes on energy and port infrastructure in Yemen on Thursday, in response to what officials said were hundreds of missile and drone attacks by the Houthis since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip 14 months ago. On Saturday, the US military said it had carried out precision airstrikes against a missile storage facility and a Houthi command center in the Yemeni capital Sanaa.

“The result will be the same”

Reinvigorated by the success of his military campaign against Lebanon's Hezbollah and the destruction of much of Syria's weaponry after the fall of Bashar al-Assad, Benjamin Netanyahu said he would act against the Houthis in concert with the United States, where he will be able to count on an unconditional ally in Donald Trump in a month's time. “That is why we will act with force, determination and sophistication. I assure you that even if it takes time, the result will be the same,” he said.

The Houthis have launched repeated attacks on commercial vessels sailing off the coast of Yemen since November 2023, in support of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. They have also regularly targeted Israel.
