Remco Evenepoel et la Poste belge ont lancé une campagne de prévention.

Remco Evenepoel, who suffered multiple fractures after hitting the door of a car belonging to the Belgian Post Office (Bpost), will be joining forces with the company as part of a prevention campaign against this type of accident, it was announced on Wednesday 11 December.

“Bpost, in partnership with the R.Ev Academy, is launching a prevention campaign against door accidents, also known as dooring”, according to a press release from the Post Office. In concrete terms, a sticker with the image of the Belgian champion will be affixed to the door windows to remind motorists to check for cyclists before opening, according to the same source.

Bpost drivers, already trained in the “Dutch technique” (opening the door with the opposite hand to better check for cyclists and/or pedestrians, Editor's note), will be the first to be equipped with this sticker, which will be installed on the company's entire fleet.

“Road users must be attentive to each other”

The general public will be able to obtain the sticker free of charge from 10 December via the website lereflexeremco.be“Road users must be attentive to each other”, reminded Remco Evenepoel.

Last Tuesday, near Brussels, the runner was unable to avoid a Bpost car, whose postwoman had suddenly opened the door.

The double Olympic champion in Paris, aged 24, suffered fractures to a rib, his right shoulder blade, and a hand and is suffering from contusions to his lungs and a dislocated right collarbone “which caused a tear in all the surrounding ligaments”, according to a message he published on X on Wednesday after having been operated on. He is not expected to resume training until the end of January.
