After opticians, the Béziers company H.Mahéo is tackling the pharmacy market

Depuis 1987, H.Mahéo conçoit des montures optiques et solaires pour les opticiens en France et à l’international. En 2025, l’entreprise biterroise se diversifie avec une nouvelle offre dédiée aux pharmaciens.

At the head of H.Mahéo, two generations combine their talents: Hervé Mahéo, the founder, and Arnaud, his son, who joined the company in 2013, after training in optics and five years in store. “Our complementarity is our strength and allows us to stay in step with market developments and opticians' expectations”, confides Arnaud Mahéo. From its premises in Béziers, H.Mahéo designs and distributes frames to more than seven thousand opticians in France and abroad. The company also offers accessories (cases, cords, etc.) and furniture to equip stores.

Quality, after-sales service and digitalization

H.Mahéo markets five exclusive brands including Little H for juniors (H for Hugo, Arnaud's son) or RV Barcelona and Shilton for premium models. These collections, designed in France, have been manufactured in partner factories in Asia for over 25 years. “Producing in France would multiply our costs by four or five. We have been working with the same manufacturers for decades, which guarantees quality and a very competitive price-quality ratio.” With an annual turnover of between 1.2 and 1.6 million euros, the company relies on the internalization of many activities, from order preparation to photo shoots, to guarantee its independence and control its costs. At the heart of H.Mahéo's DNA: after-sales service and responsiveness. “After-sales service is essential in our business. We stock 140,000 euros of parts dedicated to this activity and offer this service free of charge for two years to opticians and their customers.”

And to offer a smooth and responsive purchasing experience, the company has also focused on digitalization with a dedicated site that allows professionals to order products directly online.

Diversification into the pharmacy market

In 2025, H.Mahéo is preparing to take on a new challenge: conquering the pharmacy market with specific ranges of sunglasses and reading glasses. The company will first target pharmacists in the Mediterranean basin before expanding nationally. A project that involves adapting the current sales strategy, with the integration of dedicated sales representatives, a real turning point for the company. First step before that: participation in March in two major trade fairs in the world of pharmacy, the first in Paris, the second in Barcelona. “This diversification is a real challenge that we are ready to take on!
