After targeting MEPs in his 2024 greeting card, the mayor of Baillargues is changing his tone this year. “This year in Baillargues, we choose love over war, humor over anger!” Jean-Luc Meissonnier is of course referring to the armed conflicts between Israel and Palestine and Russia and Ukraine, the escalation of which has left its mark this year.
Two bandanas, symbols of the hippie movement, accompany the card. One features Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin, the other Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and a Hamas fighter. They do not exchange missile shots but hearts in the colors of their respective flags. The drawings are sketched by Montpellier native Dadou with his usual talent.
Behind the universal message of peace, everyone will recognize the more local wink through the drawing of two rabbits copulating in an open field. The scene refers to the problem of the proliferation of rabbits on the plain of the Pays de l'Or with its consequences on agriculture, the embankments along the highway and the railway line…
