L’équipe s’adjuge le titre de champion d’automne et peut passer de bonnes vacances.

Agde Handball finished as autumn champions. This first half of the 2024-2025 season is one to be written in gold letters for the National 3 team. With a new victory, obtained not without difficulty, on the Bourg-lès-Valence field, on December 14 (26-29). The group therefore has an impressive record of ten victories out of eleven matches played.

These results put the Agde club at the top of its championship with a three-point lead over their direct pursuers.

Playing the leading roles

“Our goal was to play the leading roles this year”, explains the manager, Thomas Bizot. “To achieve our goal, we kept the entire team from last year and recruited two players. These two reinforcements have successfully integrated and we are finding real team cohesion.”

Coach Étienne Betian, assisted by Steve Damez and captain Guillaume Montoya, can be pleased with the consistency and determination displayed on the pitch. Qualities that allow them to be at the top of the rankings at mid-season.

The Agathois club relies on the unwavering enthusiasm of its supporters, with an average of nearly 400 spectators gathered at the Henri-Molinié hall. Moreover, it quickly becomes cramped on certain busy days. An important support. “It is also thanks to them that we were able to achieve difficult victories, a big thank you to them for their energy”, concedes captain Guillaume Montoya.

Agde Handball was created in 1971 and has around 250 members within its association. Everyone will have a quiet holiday season, the next match, in the Coupe de France, will be played at home, against SMUC Marseille, on January 11, at 7 p.m.

Away to Martigues on Saturday, February 8

The championship will resume after the international break, on Saturday, February 8, in Martigues and in Agde, on Saturday, February 15 for the reception of Nice.

“Serious things will resume and we hope to stay the course and achieve our objective of playing the leading roles and continuing this great adventure in 2025”, concludes President Laurent Kibler.
