In a context where global warming and rising electricity prices are major concerns, a French innovation promises to revolutionize the air conditioning sector. The startup Caeli Énergie recently opened pre-orders for its innovative air conditioning system, the Caeli One that we already mentioned here, now also open to individuals. This product, which has already attracted the interest of professionals, is about to arrive in our homes, providing a more ecological and economical solution to cool our interiors.

A revolutionary technology?

The Caeli One stands out for its operation based on indirect adiabatic air conditioning, a cooling technique by evaporation of the& #8217;water. Unlike traditional air conditioners that use refrigerants, the Caeli One uses air and running water to generate ;fresh air. This method avoids greenhouse gas emissions, often associated with conventional air conditioners, and significantly reduces energy consumption.

< p>Stéphane Lips and Rémi Pérony, co-founders of Caeli Énergie, developed this project in collaboration with the CNRS and the INP of Grenoble. Their goal was to create an air conditioning system that consumes only a fraction of the energy used by traditional systems, while avoiding the environmental problems posed by refrigerants.

The result of their research is a device capable of efficiently cooling spaces of 30 to 40 m² with a power consumption of only 30W in eco mode and up to 80W (0.08 kWh) only in boost mode. Absolutely reduced consumption when we know that conventional air conditioners use on average between 0.7 to 1.4 kWh

A simpler and less restrictive installation

One of the main advantages of the Caeli One is the absence of an external unit. This feature facilitates installation and allows aesthetic integration into various environments, including those where the installation of external units is technically or visually complicated. The unit is also designed to be silent, with a sound pressure of only 29 to 37 dB(A) depending on the mode used, making it ideal for use in noise-sensitive spaces. It will still be necessary to make two holes leading to the outside of the home, as well as having access to a water supply.

Greater efficiency at a lower cost

The Caeli One has a coefficient of performance (COP) of 16, meaning that it produces 16 watts of cooling for every watt consumed. This energy efficiency is five times higher than that of conventional air conditioners, which allows for substantial savings on electricity bills. In terms of water consumption, the system uses between 1 and 2 m³ of water over a four-month season, releasing this water in the form of clean steam according to the startup.

The environmental impact of the Caeli One should also be reduced thanks to the use of recycled materials, including recycled plastic for the device's chassis. This approach helps to minimize the carbon footprint of the device throughout its life cycle, from production to use. Enough to make you feel less guilty about using air conditioning in the summer.

Air conditioning that uses 5 times less electricity is coming to homes

Since its creation, the Caeli One has been tested in several establishments, including nursing homes and communities. The founders of the startup have since decided to open pre-orders for individuals, with deliveries planned before summer 2025.

Access to the Caeli One for individuals is still subject to an eligibility questionnaire, aimed at ensuring that the installation conditions are met. Let us recall that the installation of the system requires a 230V power supply, a water supply, and the creation of two 160 mm holes in an exterior wall. This permanent solution will therefore not be possible to install in just any home.

The total cost of the device, including purchase, installation and commissioning, is estimated at more than 3,000 euros. While this price may seem high, it is important to consider the potential energy savings and environmental benefits that the Caeli One offers in the long term.

A nice product, but too expensive?

When we first mentioned this system, many of you told us what you thought of the Caeli One. Many have expressed reservations about the price of the device as well as its mode of operation. Despite these criticisms, interest in the Caeli One does not weaken. The startup plans to increase its production capacity with a new line in Isère, in order to meet growing demand and make the product more accessible. The Ulule campaign launched by Caeli has already reached 280% of its sales objectives, with 142 systems having already found buyers. We will therefore closely monitor the feedback from the first buyers who will receive the machine.

With the opening of pre-orders for individuals, Caeli Énergie marks an important step in the democratization of more sustainable and efficient air conditioning solutions. The Caeli One, through its technological innovation and its ecological approach, represents a significant step forward in the face of current energy and environmental challenges. By offering an alternative to traditional air conditioners, Caeli Énergie intrigues with this solution which should allow its owners to keep a cool head while making great savings.< /p>

  • Caeli Énergie is a startup that has developed an air conditioning system that consumes 5 times less energy than a traditional system
  • The technique used is indirect adiabatic cooling, which requires a water supply, but also much less current in its use
  • Pre-orders for individuals are open, and 142 Caeli systems have already found buyers
