The Leopard Is Gone… On Sunday, August 18, 2024, Anthony, Anouchka and Alain-Fabien Delon announced the death of their father, Alain Delon. “A great wild animal has died, who fascinated and divided at the same time (…) He passed away peacefully in his house in Douchy, surrounded by his three children and his family. (…) His family asks you to please respect his privacy, in this extremely painful time of mourning”, they wrote in a statement sent to l’AFP.

Shortly after the actor's death, his biographer, Bernard Violet, released the book Les derniers mystères Delon. In it, he claims that Alain Delon was bisexual. “At least during the first thirty years of his life”, he claimed in the columns of Le Parisien before adding: “A free character with a crazy ambition, he lived his bisexuality probably by taste and also with a suspicion of careerism. (…) But given his era and his status, the actor's bisexuality was impossible to reveal”.

Brigitte Auber: “His malaise, his unease come of là”

In his book, the biographer wrote: “Although known for his affairs with many women, this book reveals how Alain Delon also had a more confidential sexuality with men. Perhaps out of desire, more certainly out of careerism. So many rather older males, definitely fascinated by the insolent beauty of a young man who was both an angel and demon”.

A little later in the book, Bernard Violet wondered if Brigitte Auber, who was in a relationship for a few months with Alain Delon in 1957, was aware of certain things. “Did Alain have other male adventures ? Did he sell his charms to these gentlemen on the Boulevard Saint-Germain and then on the Croisette in the months following his departure from the Navy, as rumor has it? Once again, the actress does not avoid the subject, but insists on not being quoted while the star is still alive: 'Do you want me to tell you? The thing that must be terrible for him is being forced to play the shameful. His malaise, his uneasiness comes from there'”, he wrote.

Brigitte Auber: “Understand who wants…”

Bernard Violet then wrote: “Then he added with caution: 'Of course, we can very well say that men did not remain indifferent to her charm, but from there to talk about selling her charms…'. Brief silence followed by a large sigh. And Brigitte Auber resumes in a dejected tone: 'He did it too, but understand who wants…'”.

In this book, the journalist France Roche reported an anecdote revealed by an Italian friend: “That day, a well-known American actor was in Rome. He was supposedly given for his little Christmas a young man who was Alain… When the two men found themselves one day on a set, the American exclaimed: 'Shit, that's my Christmas present!…'”.
