They decided this Saturday: the managers of the Alti Aigoual resort, in the Gard, have chosen to open the cross-country and downhill ski resort this Sunday, December 15. That is, four downhill ski slopes and a cross-country ski loop.
“The snow is really good,” explained Denis Boissière, co-manager of the resort, this Sunday morning. The snow fell relatively wet, we didn't groom it right away and we waited for the evening to refreeze. We must have 20-25 centimeters. The first skiers are arriving.”
This opening does not mean that the resort is out of the woods for downhill skiing: “The appeal to the communities remains, we are not saved, far from it. We are still short of 100,000 euros and we are, for the moment, assured that until December 31.”
For this Sunday, four green slopes are open. Discounted packages (13 and 16 euros) can be purchased at Cafét’Aigoual, the mountain cafeteria of Station Alti Aigoual. Open until 5 p.m.
A month ago, the resort launched solidarity package purchases to be discovered here, to prepare for winter.
