OpenAI has just released a bunch of new features for those who use ChatGPT on a computer. And for Windows users, the company finally announces the availability, for everyone, of the native ChatGPT application on the operating system. As a reminder, at its launch, ChatGPT was only accessible on a web page. But Gradually, OpenAI launched apps for iOS, Android and macOS. And now there is also an app for Windows PCs.

The main advantage of this application, compared to the web version, is the ease of access. Indeed, once the ChatGPT application is installed on your PC, you can access the intelligence quickly by using the keyboard shortcut “Alt + Space”. When you use this shortcut, ChatGPT displays a floating mini-window that allows you to use its AI, while working on other applications.

Otherwise, you can also expand this mini window in order to have the full application and all the features. And one of the advantages of this interface is that 'it allows you to use ChatGPT's voice mode, including the advanced voice mode that allows you to have fluid and natural conversations with AI.

OpenAI is launching a big new feature for developers on macOS

On macOS, the ChatGPT application has been available for quite a while. However, OpenAI has announced a new feature for the macOS application that should delight all developers who use ChatGPT to create computer code. Indeed, thanks to the “Work with Apps” feature, available to ChatGPT Plus and ChatGPT Team users, ChatGPT can work in tandem with development tools (VS Code, Xcode, Terminal, iTerm2). “ChatGPT can now read the content of your coding applications, providing you with smarter and more precise responses, tailored to your work,” explains OpenAI.

For example, if a developer is working on Xcode and wants to get help from ChatGPT, they no longer need to copy and paste their code into ChatGPT. Indeed, the application is able to directly access Xcode and respond to the developer’s request.

Another big new feature coming in January ?

Otherwise, rumors are already circulating about an AI agent that is said to be under development at OpenAI. Currently, ChatGPT is able to answer questions, give advice or even generate snippets of code. However, the AI agent that OpenAI is said to be developing would be able to take control of the user's computer, in order to perform actions such as ordering an item or making a reservation. OpenAI is reportedly planning to release a preview version of this technology in January. But for now, since this information has not been confirmed, caution is advised.
