Since the arrival of ChatGPT, tech players have been racing to integrate generative artificial intelligence everywhere on the internet. And Amazon Prime Video, the streaming service of the giant e-commerce, has found a brilliant way to use this technology to improve the experience of movie and series lovers. In a press release, Amazon presents the “X-Ray Recaps” feature which relies on the AI to automatically generate summaries of series watched by the user.
Recaps are necessary to continue a series or an episode when the user no longer remembers what happened previously. And the advantage of these recaps generated by artificial intelligence is that they can summarize a series, a season or an episode taking into account the exact moment where the user stopped. Thanks to these personalized recaps, the user avoids the risk of coming across spoilers.
“Whether you’re just minutes into a new episode, halfway through a season, or have paused your viewing of a series and need a refresher, X-Ray Recaps provides short text clips of major cliffhangers, character-related plot points, and other details that can be accessed at any point during your viewing,” Amazon explains.

Unfortunately, this new feature is not available in France. According to Amazon, X-Ray Recaps is being tested in beta and will be available to Fire TV users in the United States. The feature is also limited to Amazon MGM Studios original content. The technology analyzes video segments, subtitles, and dialogue to generate recaps. “Safeguards are also applied to ensure the production of concise and spoiler-free summaries,” the company also indicates.
The user has the option to generate recaps of the current episode, the season, or the previous season.
