The president of the National Rally, Jordan Bardella, denounced this Wednesday, January 8, 2025, the publication by Paris Match of a photo of Jean-Marie Le Pen's daughter in tears when she learned of her father's death.

“The publication by Paris Match of a photo of Marine Le Pen, at the moment she learned of her father's death, is an indignity beyond measure.” This message was published on X on January 8, 2025 by Jordan Bardella, president of the National Rally, in reaction to the publication by the weekly magazine of a photo of Marine Le Pen in tears at the announcement of her father's death.

Paris Match had published an article on its site titled “In pictures, the moment when Marine Le Pen learned of her father's death”. The MP was seen in tears on the plane taking her back from Mayotte to mainland France, including 20 minutes.

“Contacted by our teams, the editorial team is delighted and takes responsibility. If dishonour had a name tonight, it would be called Paris Match”, continued the far-right leader. The photo has since been removed, as has Jordan Bardella's tweet on his X account.

Marine Le Pen learned of her father's death during a technical stopover in Nairobi, Kenya, informed by journalists who accompanied her of the press release that had been sent a few minutes earlier to AFP, signed “Le Pen Family”.
