Pression sur le logement social

#OCCITANIE –The threshold of 200,000 applicants for social housing was exceeded in Occitanie in the second half of the year. The pressure of demand, which measures the ratio between applicants and newcomers, continues to increase. At the beginning of 2024, in the region, this pressure indicator was on the rise in almost all departments, with the exception of Lot and Lozère. Hérault (9.0), Pyrénées-Orientales (8.2), Tarn-et-Garonne (7.8), as well as Aude (7.3), Ariège (7.1) and Gard (7.1) constitute the areas of greatest tension.

From Occitania to Tokyo

#GERS – “Nothing can prepare you for this”, launched Nicolas Doucet, director of the Japanese studio Team Asobi, owned by Sony, Thursday, on the stage of the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, brandishing the statuette of the Game of the Year, the most coveted of the Game Awards, the annual ceremony honoring the video game industry. With his team, this 46-year-old Frenchman, originally from Gers, spent more than three years on the video game Astro Bot, which stages new adventures of the little robot. Sold over 1.5 million copies and exclusive to the PS5, the game has achieved the highest score of the year on the review aggregator site Metacritic, a 94 out of 100.

#HERAULT – This is the number of mayors who responded to the call from the President of the Hérault Department. Kléber Mesquida brought together these local elected officials on Saturday to denounce “the serious situation”, in the face of the drastic reduction in aid allocated by the State. “We will be forced to borrow to repay the loans”, the president said. Kléber Mesquida alerted the elected officials: “We will not launch any more major projects.”

The Christmas Village brings the world to life in virtual reality

#LE BARCARES –In La Plagne, some people pay 55 euros to travel the bobsleigh descent of the 1992 Winter Olympics in a bob raft. Until January 5, 2025, at the Village de Noël du Barcarès, for 5 euros, a virtual reality simulator takes you on the same route aboard a racing car. This year, the village is focusing on virtual reality, with ski, luge and bobsleigh descent simulators. And if the desire to embark with Santa Claus is stronger for some, two virtual sleighs offer a trip around the world in three minutes, starting from the North Pole, passing through New York, London, Turkey, and arriving at Le Barcarès!

Disability at the heart of the Midi Libre Health Lab

#EVENT – Midi Libre is organizing a new Health Lab, this Wednesday, December 18, 2024, from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the newspaper's headquarters in Saint-de-Védas. The event will focus on issues related to disability care. Understanding the needs and expectations of people with disabilities, the role of public and private actors in support; but also the different types of care, the inclusion paths, the obstacles and the limits of care… So many themes that will be discussed during this morning hosted by Virginie Galligani, with the participation of Didier Jaffre, director of the Occitanie Regional Health Agency, as well as professionals, associations, public actors and families around three round tables.
