The coronation of Angélique Angarni-Filopon as Miss France 2025, on Saturday, December 14, 2024, would have been a moment of joy and celebration. However, since her election, the 34-year-old woman from Martinique has been subjected to a flood of hateful and racist comments on social media. Cyberbullying of such magnitude that the Miss France committee decided to react.

An unprecedented wave of hatred towards the new Miss France

As soon as the results were announced, many Internet users lashed out against Angélique Angarni-Filopon, criticizing her age and origins. The attacks multiplied, mixing racism and inappropriate comments. Faced with this wave of hatred, several former Miss Frances such as Alexandra Rosenfeld (2006) and Flora Coquerel (2014) have expressed their support for Ang&eacutelique Angarni-Filopon. The main person concerned thanked those who support her in this ordeal. “This support that I have been receiving since yesterday touches me enormously“, she confided on Saturday on Instagram, preferring “to ignore hatred than to feed it“.

The Miss France committee files a complaint and takes legal action

But beyond the messages of support, it is a strong decision that the Miss France committee took on Friday, December 20, 2024. In a press release published on Instagram, the latter announced his intention to take legal action in the face of this unprecedented wave of harassment. “The Miss France company strongly condemns these remarks”, can be read in the press release which specifies that “these insulting comments have no place in our competition, nor in our society and will all be reported to the relevant authorities.”

A first in the history of the competition, which marks the determination of the organizers to no longer let such excesses pass. Because as the Miss France committee reminds us, “harassment and cyber harassment are punishable by law“. Not sure, however, that this will be enough to stem the wave of hatred that has been falling on each Miss France for several years now. In the waiting, Angélique Angarni-Filopon can count on the unwavering support of her predecessors to weather this media storm.
