The second agricultural union intends to put pressure on the government.

Convoys of farmers set out on Sunday to try to block roads around Paris, at the call of the Rural Coordination, before the meeting with François Bayrou on January 13.

The Prime Minister will meet that day with the Confédération paysanne, the Rural Coordination, the FNSEA and the Young Farmers. An appointment that was too late in the eyes of the Rural Coordination, the second largest agricultural union in France, which maintained its Sunday mobilization.

“We left with enough to sleep”

“We'll arrive on the outskirts of Paris in the evening, we're on the road”, said Édouard Legras, president of the Rural Coordination for Loir-et-Cher, on BFM TV from the cabin of his tractor.

“We left with enough to sleep, enough to eat, to stay there for several days, so if we have to wait until Monday noon to move around, we'll wait until Monday noon”, he added.

The secretary general questioned

The angry farmers threatened to block access to the capital on this day of heavy traffic linked to the return from the Christmas holidays. The Paris police prefecture and the Val-de-Marne police prefecture had banned “any undeclared gathering” in the center of Paris and near the Rungis market from this Sunday 6 p.m. until Monday noon.

The farmers were not planning any major actions on Sunday evening. This did not prevent Christian Convers, the general secretary of the CR, from being arrested in the 17th arrondissement of Paris.

Better control of imports

The agricultural world is demanding the application of measures whose implementation is slowed by the political instability caused by the dissolution of the National Assembly, then the censure of Michel Barnier's government.

Among the unions' demands are an end to the over-transposition of standards and better control of imports.
