L’année commence sportivement pour les licenciés de l’Éveil mendois athlétisme.
As usual for the past 21 years, the year begins in Lescure d’Albigeois, with the Epiphany bullfight organized by the USCA Lescure club. There were 900 people gathered for the 5 and 10 km races. Labeled, they open access to the French championship of the discipline and attract the best sportsmen of Occitanie.
Anne Moulin and Antoine Vens were at the party and brilliantly represented the department under the colors of the Éveil mendois athlétisme Lozère club.

Antoine Vens stands out in a very dense and very tough 10 km race by finishing 56th in 34’50, a personal best time.

Next meeting, the cross of the departmental championship which will be held on January 12, in Saint-Rome-de-Tarn, with the clubs of Aveyron. This cross-country race will be the start of the qualifying series leading to the French championship, quarter-final, on January 26, in Tarn or Aude depending on whether the Occitanie athletics league authorizes the Lozériens to participate in the closest cross-country race, the one near Albi, to limit their transport costs, and on February 9, a semi-final on the grueling Vabre course, in Rodez which will allow a qualification instead for the French championship, on March 1, in Challans, in Vendée. Great challenges in perspective that these cross-country races represent, formative events and essential to any preparation for races outside the stadium.
