Apple could develop glasses connected to the iPhone

Apple already has a new idea to establish itself on the mixed reality market. While it already markets the Vision Pro, the firm could also offer augmented reality glasses that, instead of operating autonomously, would use the computing power of the iPhone. This idea had already been mentioned by Mark Gurman, a journalist at Bloomberg and one of the best-informed sources on the subject of future Apple products. And in his latest newsletter, he indicates that this option would now be seriously considered by the Cupertino firm.

Why Apple Glasses Could Be a Hit?

Indeed, augmented reality glasses connected to the iPhone would have many advantages. First, it would be a lighter and more compact form factor than the Vision Pro. In addition, Apple would no longer need to integrate a processor into these glasses, since they would rely on the iPhone's processor to provide an augmented reality experience.

For now, caution is advised, since this information comes from an unofficial source. But if Apple does indeed launch augmented reality glasses connected to the iPhone, it is possible that this product will have similarities with the Xreal glasses. This Chinese company already has a strong presence in the mixed reality market. And its specialty is augmented reality glasses that serve as a screen when connected to a smartphone or a PC. Thanks to this system, Xreal is able to offer products that are not too expensive, but that allow you to enjoy a mixed reality experience. In addition, the Xreal glasses are compact enough to be used on the go.

The affordable version of the Vision Pro would be delayed

Recently, analyst Ming Chi Kuo indicated that Apple had delayed production of the affordable version of the Vision Pro headset. Here too, caution is still required. But it’s entirely possible that the company has decided to put this project on hold in order to focus on a completely different product, such as augmented reality glasses.

  • According to Mark Gurman, Apple is seriously considering developing glasses that connect to the iPhone to provide an augmented reality experience
  • Caution is still advised, but such a product could be more affordable than the Vision Pro (because it wouldn’t need a processor)
  • The glasses would also be more compact and lighter
