After launching visionOS in 2024, Apple could officially release another operating system called HomeOS in 2025. This is what Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman indicates in his latest newsletter. While Apple already sells connected speakers for the home, this one is reportedly working on connected screens. And the first model could arrive as early as 2025, with the new operating system.

In this newsletter, Gurman also says more about this new platform. In essence, HomeOS would be developed based on the Apple TV software and in fact, later, Apple could combine the two platforms. Otherwise, this operating system for connected displays would be designed to control connected devices in the home, and should also include apps such as Note, the calendar, etc.

In addition, Apple would also plan to include Apple Intelligence in this operating system. Indeed, unlike the Apple TV or HomePod speakers, future connected displays would have the computing power necessary to run the firm's artificial intelligence.

What will Apple connected displays look like ?

According to Mark Gurman's explanations, Apple is planning to release two connected screens. And this is the basic model that should be released in 2025. During the design, Apple would have imagined for example a product that attaches magnetically to the walls, but that can also stand on a table. As for the second model, more expensive, it would have a format similar to that of the iPad, but would also be equipped with a robotic support. Previous rumors have suggested that this arm could allow the screen to automatically orient itself to follow the user as they move around the house.

But of course, for the moment, this information should be considered with caution, since it does not come from official sources. In any case, it makes sense that Apple would seek to market smart home displays, given that its competitors, including Google and Amazon, already offer this type of product.

  • Apple is reportedly working on smart home displays, and the first model could arrive in 2025
  • This connected screen would use a new operating system called HomeOS
  • HomeOS would be close to the Apple TV operating system, would be optimized for controlling connected devices in the home, and should include Apple Intelligence
  • The base model would be planned for 2025, but Apple would also have imagined a connected screen mounted on a robotic support
