Apple Keynote 2024: We're really expecting just one announcement and nothing else tonight

Spread the love

Apple's traditional Back-to-School Keynote takes place this Monday, September 9. If the iPhone 16 ;will be in the spotlight, the main expected novelty is elsewhere.

This is an unmissable event for fans of the Apple brand. Like every year at the start of the school year, Apple is holding its major back-to-school conference this Monday, September 9. The event, broadcast from 7 p.m. French time on Apple's websites, will be an opportunity for the Californian giant to unveil its new flagship products that will set the pace for end-of-year sales, start with iPhone 16.

The new generation of smartphones from Apple is unlikely to revolutionize the formula. Available in four versions (iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max), the device will look a lot like its predecessor, according to leaks from case manufacturers. Some improvements are still expected, such as a slightly larger screen, a new physical button on the edge or 48 megapixel photo sensors on the Pro models, compared to 12 megapixels currently. The arrival of AI in the famous smartphone is also expected, with the probable integration of Apple Intelligence, the giant's in-house AI presented in June, or even ChatGPT integrated directly into the system.

Other Apple products will not be left out. A 10th generation Apple Watch (possibly called Apple Watch X) is expected, with better battery life thanks to optimization enabled by artificial intelligence. iPads should also be entitled to an update and a bit of AI, particularly at the processor level to take advantage of the capabilities. Only MacBooks seem to have to wait for a dedicated conference in October. Nothing very “revolutionary” finally get your teeth into it…

The real star of this Keynote could well be elsewhere. It is the AirPods that should be the real stars of this Keynote for the general public. Apple is indeed preparing to launch two new models of its famous wireless headphones, very popular. Main evolution: shorter stems and a charging case finally adopting the USB-C standard, to the detriment of the proprietary Lightning port. Good news, one of the models would integrate active noise reduction without a price increase compared to the current AirPods Pro (279 euros).

With shortened stems, a USB-C case and above all the democratization of active noise reduction without additional cost, Apple could thus strike a major blow on the true wireless earphone market. The Cupertino firm intends to maintain its leadership in a sector that it has largely contributed to popularizing since the launch of the first AirPods in 2016.
