Apple no longer wants to repair these very popular iPhones

Every good thing must come to an end, and that is precisely what we can say after this announcement from Apple. We know that the Cupertino company regularly classifies its devices in the vintage category (when they have not been distributed for more than five years). Then, two years later, they were considered obsolete.

In the first case, the products still benefit from spare parts, but the Tech giant no longer offers labor. As for the second scenario, it signals the accelerated end of a device, because no more spare parts or repairs are provided by Apple.

And precisely, as our colleagues have observed d'iPhon.fr, the list of vintage and obsolete products from the Cupertino company has just been updated. We now find two names that had their moment of glory in the past.

Thus, the iPhone 6 Plus, which Apple stopped selling in September 2016, joins the list of obsolete devices. As a result, owners of this smartphone do not benefit from repairs or new spare parts. Likewise, iOS 13 no longer supports iPhone 6 and 6 Plus models since 2019.

The bad news doesn't stop there. Indeed, the iPad Mini 4 is considered vintage, just like the iPhone 8 and 8 plus in red (PRODUCT) RED, which will make access to repairs much more difficult.

As a reminder, last February, it was the turn of the 13-inch MacBook Pro released in mid-2012 to be classified obsolete. The latter was symbolic, because it was the last Apple computer with a CD player. The Tech giant ceased its marketing in October 2016 before placing it in the vintage category five years later.

“Mac laptops may be eligible for an extended battery-only repair period, up to 10 years from last distribution of the product for sale, subject to the availability of parts”, explained the brand to Apple.
