In the streaming landscape, Netflix is still the undisputed and indisputable leader today. Disney+, Prime Video and Apple TV+ are lagging behind and struggling to remain visible in its rearview mirror. While Apple's streaming platform has revealed very disappointing results, the Cupertino firm is being urged to review its strategy.

Unfortunately, this comes as bad news for subscribers. Because reviewing your strategy and reducing your expenses will certainly not be without consequences for Apple TV+ branded programs. Yet this is the streaming platform's greatest strength…

Quality is not enough

Apple TV+ has made a special place for itself in the hearts of series and series fans for the undeniable quality of its programs. Severance, Ted Lasso, The Morning Show, Foundation, Tetris or Sugar< /em> are all popular content available on Apple TV+.

Yes but there you go… Quality is unfortunately not everything. Faced with competitors like Netflix, Disney+ and Prime Video, it is difficult to find a place of choice in the market. Even Apple TV+ films released in cinemas, such as Napoleon by Ridley Scott and Killers of the Flower Moonby Martin Scorsese, have had a hard time convincing. Faced with Netflix, which continues to be unanimous, despite an increasingly poor catalog and productions whose quality often leaves something to be desired, Apple TV+ must therefore review its strategy and, above all, reduce its expenses. In the United States, Apple TV+ generates fewer views over an entire month than Netflix does in the space of a day, according to Bloomberg. Ouch…

To limit the damage, Apple TV+ will have to be more severe with its programs. Where 100% of Apple TV+ series benefited from a season 3 in 2019, only 22% now hope to be entitled to a third round of episodes. The Cupertino company is today quicker to cancel series because of disappointing audiences. Add to that tighter budgets, and it's the beginning of the end.

Despite everything, let the fans of Severance reassure themselves. Season 2 of the series led by Adam Scott and directed by Ben Stiller (among others) benefits from a substantial budget: $20 million per episode. But we can only imagine that after this madness, Apple TV+ will definitely have to calm down if it hopes to survive…
