This year, Apple entered the mixed reality market with the Vision Pro headset. But due to its price, and the lack of concrete uses, this product did not particularly attract the crowds. Also, rumors had mentioned the development of a more affordable version of the Vision Pro, which would have a more modest technical sheet. However, in a recent publication, analyst Ming Chi Kuo indicated that Apple had postponed the release of this affordable version and that this product would finally not be released before 2027.

“This means that the only new Apple head-mounted display device in 2025 will be the Vision Pro with an improved M5 processor”, he had indicated. And today, Ming Chi Kuo's publication is corroborated by another source: Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, who is one of the most reliable sources of unofficial information. In his latest newsletter, Gurman indicates that the Vision Pro 2 should be released between fall 2025 and spring 2026.

No radical change in sight?

Unfortunately, if you're expecting a major design change, you might be disappointed. According to Gurman, Apple has several ideas, and at least one of them would be to launch a product with the same design, but which would benefit from major internal improvements. The good news is that the company could also develop smart glasses. Apple has reportedly already conducted a market study among its employees.

But as usual, since this information does not come from an official source, caution is advised.

  • Rumors have suggested that an affordable version of the Vision Pro headset will be developed to improve sales
  • But in the end, it’s possible that Apple has decided to jump straight to the Vision Pro 2
  • According to a new rumor, the Vision Pro 2 could be released between fall 2025 and spring 2026
  • And it’s possible that the Vision Pro 2 will have the same design as the Vision Pro, while benefiting from internal improvements
