Apple Vision Pro, Apple Intelligence: Tim Cook discusses the mixed reception of Apple's new products

When he wakes up in the morning, Tim Cook picks up his phone to read his emails and check Apple's sales results around the world. The rather mixed figures concerning the Vision Pro could not have escaped him, just like the criticism surrounding Apple Intelligence, the new AI features offered by the brand with the apple. But the least we can say is that the leader is determined and knows where he is going.

Apple Intelligence, a real revolution ?

In a long profile that the Wall Street Journal has just dedicated to him, the CEO thus specified:

We have no problem with not being first. It turns out that it takes time to get it really great. It takes a lot of iterations. It takes attention to every detail. Sometimes it takes a little longer. We’d rather get that kind of product out there and make that kind of contribution to people than race to get something out there first. If we can do both, that’s fantastic. But if we can only do one, there’s no question about it. If you talk to 100 people, 100 of them will tell you: It’s about being the best.

Concerning Apple Intelligence, Tim Cook is well aware that he’s not the only one getting into this niche while most of the tech giants are struggling on this issue. He explains that this technology has literally changed his life by allowing him to save a lot of time during his days, in particular by summarizing long emails.

He is convinced that the general public has not necessarily perceived that this innovation constitutes a major technological change. It is therefore possible that, in a few years, we will look back on 2024 as a major turning point.

The Vision Pro is a first draft

For the Apple Vision Pro, the CEO of the Cupertino company puts the failure into perspective: “Over time, everything gets better, and this too will get better and better. I think it's probably a success today from the point of view of building an ecosystem.”

He adds: “For now, it's a product aimed at early adopters. People who want to have tomorrow's technology today, that's who it's aimed at. Fortunately, there are enough people in this camp to make it exciting. “

The CEO has already several personal use cases in mind. He uses it at work to open multiple windows and manage multiple tasks at once. But also at home: “I always found having to sit in a certain place in your living room to be really restrictive.” He therefore prefers to watch his series and films wherever he pleases.

And for all those who are still skeptical, Tim Cook reminds us to what extent iPods, iPhones, and AirPods were criticized and mocked when they were released before becoming completely mainstream.
