The van used by the attackers showed signs of two impacts and caught fire at the intersection of Cours Berriat and Jean-Jaurès, reports France Bleu Isère. The firefighters quickly intervened to put out the fire and the police are also on site. The road intersection is closed to traffic, public transport is also at a standstill in the area and the prefecture is calling on residents and passers-by to avoid the area. The prefect of Isère, Louis Laugier, indicates that “a crisis unit is activated to monitor the operations. The perimeter is secured” by the police. And to add: “We recommend the greatest caution in the city center of Grenoble”.

12:37 – The three vehicles of the suspects found
The perpetrators had three vehicles: a van and two Mercedes cars to chase and block the armored van. The attack having been aborted, the attackers fled with the two Mercedes, but left the van burning on the road. One of the cars was abandoned a few hundred meters after the scene of the attack because it had been caught in a traffic accident, explained the public prosecutor, Eric Vaillant.
The criminals then gathered in the second car which, according to the Dauphiné Libéré, was found on fire and empty in the Grenoble area. The suspects are still on the run.
12:32 – “No deaths, and no serious injuries”
The prefect of Isère says that the “situation has stabilized” regarding the toll and victims after the attack on the van. He specifies that of the five people taken into care, three have been involved in a car accident that occurred on the fringes of the attack and that two people were slightly injured by shards of glass: “The outcome is that there are no deaths and no serious injuries”.

Arrived On site, the prefect of Isère, Louis Laugier, “mentioned facts of “extreme seriousness” which resulted in “an attempted robbery” whose “circumstances are not yet completely defined”. He assured that “a large number of law enforcement personnel are mobilized to find the perpetrators” and that the work is being done in coordination between the police and the gendarmerie.
