In October 2021, Ary Abittan had made headlines when he was accused by a 23-year-old woman of sexual assault. She had brought complaint against him, claiming that he had forced anal intercourse on him. Indicted in this case, he was finally placed under the status of simple assisted witness a few months later.
The two investigating judges in charge of the case had highlighted the absence of “serious or concordant evidence“. They had nevertheless recognized the complainant's post-traumatic stress “indisputable“. Finally, in April 2024, the actor finally obtained a dismissal in this case. He therefore made the decision to return to the stage with a new show called Authentic.

The activists specify that they are particularly annoyed by an element concerning Ary Abittan's show. “He pushes indecency to his height by using this case to make people laugh. By making fun of it in his show, he capitalizes on the trauma inflicted on his victims, all this with the support of several theaters across France. Including the Thééâtre du casino Barrière in Bordeaux.”
For the time being, the establishment that is to host the comedian's show has not wished to react to this controversy.
