Exiled in Russia, Asma al-Assad, the wife of the former Syrian president, is said to be seriously affected by leukemia. A disease that follows a first cancer, cured in 2019.

Her husband ousted her, she had to leave Syria a few weeks ago. According to The Telegraph, Asma al-Assad, wife of Bashar al-Assad, is said to be isolated in the Russian capital on the orders of doctors. Her health condition is worsening, so much so that they have given her only “50%” chance of survival.

“Asma is dying”. “She can't be in the same room as anyone (because of her health condition)”, said sources close to the couple, wishing to remain anonymous.

Breast cancer in 2019

The announcement of this disease came last May, by the Syrian presidency. “After presenting various symptoms and clinical signs, and following a series of medical examinations, the first lady was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia.”

A few years earlier, in August 2019, Asma al-Assad had announced that she had been completely cured of breast cancer, after a year of treatment.
