On December 12, 2024 in Alençon, a man was convicted of domestic violence after the son of the woman he was beating alerted the police.

“I think he was afraid of getting hit and especially that he was fed up!” Regardless of his motivations, the courage of a teenager may have saved a woman who was the victim of domestic violence in Orne, reports Ouest-France.

A teenager reports the facts

The facts date back to July 30. That evening, a man violently attacked his partner. He pulled her hair, spat on her, threw objects at her and slapped her twice.

This is too much for one of the victim's two sons, aged 17. He leaves his 15-year-old brother and runs to get help. He finds an open gym and warns the witnesses to the scene of violence in progress. The authorities are contacted, the man is arrested.

The spouse is sentenced

Facts for which the violent companion appeared on December 12 at the Alençon court. The magistrates did not fail to praise the bravery of the heroic teenager: “Your son had the presence of mind to go to a gym to ask someone to alert the police.”

A salutary act. And despite the defendant's defense, which maintained that “it was just a one-time thing,” despite a previous conviction for domestic violence, he was found guilty. “In my opinion, there is an imminent risk of further violence, the judge said.

He was given a six-month suspended prison sentence, with a requirement for treatment. He was also forced to leave his partner's home.
