At Pana, bread, logs and a television appearance!

The bakery on rue du Faubourg received the cameras of “La Meilleure boulangerie de France”.

When you push open the door of Pana, it is first the warmth and the scents that welcome the customer. Then, the joyful and dynamic team that is active in the forty square meters of the small neighborhood bakery, as written on the back of the artisans' outfits. “Figuerolles is a bit like a village, some residents were born here, went to school here and with the new arrivals, that's really what I wanted to do, for them to meet up, cross paths, chat over coffee and that's what's happening”, begins Clémence Maurel, the manager. “We specialize in sourdough bread that we grow every day and all our flours are organic”.

Country breads, spelt, fig-apricot-hazelnut, with seeds, with olives… “We don't have a huge range but we are committed to quality and our lunch sandwiches are selling really well. Everything is homemade, like the mayonnaise, the peppers that we roast ourselves, the onion confit, the pickles and for Le Parisien baguette, the ham comes from the butcher next door”.

Add to that the filled focaccia, the half-veggie banh, the pizzeta, the cookies, the tiramisu, the brownies and the sugar or chocolate babka. For the holidays, the logs will be simple and classic, sponge cake and buttercream and the lavender honey gingerbread brought directly from Ardèche by mom (occasional little helper) is already a classic of the house. Quality products in a family atmosphere, this is surely what caught the attention of the show “The Best Bakery in France”. Pana is taking part, in the running with around ten other establishments from Occitanie for a sequence recorded at the beginning of July and broadcast next February. “They arrived with fifteen people for two days of filming, it was super sporty! We are judged on the atmosphere, the visual of the store, the quality and a favorite product. The host gave 10/10 to one of our products and warned us that we should expect a new crowd. So, after the January galettes, we are preparing for the effects of the broadcast of the show”, says Clémence.
