At the call of the CGT, social and medico-social workers in Montpellier express their discomfort

Des salariés de plusieurs structures associatives, dont l’Unapei 34 et Adages ont manifesté ce jeudi midi devant le Conseil départemental puis face au Corum à l’appel de la CGT. Le mouvement englobe les revendications salariales, les conditions de travail et les inquiétudes liées au financement de certaines activités.

Around forty employees from the social and medico-social sectors gathered this Thursday at noon in front of the departmental hotel. A modest mobilization for this industrial action triggered by the CGT in order to alert on the tensions and concerns which, according to its representatives, animate the various associative structures.

“We denounce the contempt”

And recall several demands related to purchasing power such as those for the payment of the “Laforcade-Segur” bonus for all employees. “Apprentices included” adds Sophie Vidal, union representative at Unapei 34, which brings together nearly 800 employees across its structures, medical-educational institutes, accommodation centers for disabled adults and work assistance establishments. The manager also points out “managerial violence”within the Union, which results in a high turnover and the use of temporary staff. “We asked for a 90-point increase for those who are paid below the minimum wage. We didn't get a response, we denounce this contempt” she adds.

“A whole sector is sick”

“It's a whole sector that is sick. In several associations, like the APF, we started talking about social plans. We've never seen anything like that. It's a whole sector that is lacking funding. We are being asked to do more but without additional resources” responds Gérald Verrier, central delegate at Adages (nearly 2,000 employees in total in the department). He notes that in the face of this situation “the care of migrants and homeless people is no longer the priority”.

After the gathering in front of the departmental council, the demonstrators went early in the afternoon in front of the Corum where Unapei 34 was gathering its employees.
