Lille are stunning! After an incredible home victory against Real Madrid, Losc had a date this Wednesday with another big name in European football, Atlético Madrid. With a completely revamped eleven and surprise starters, Bruno Génésio surprised everyone. From the first minutes, the Colchoneros put pressure on Lille, who quickly made a mistake. Ousmane Touré saw his back pass end up at the feet of Julian Alvarez, who only had to deceive Lucas Chevalier (1-0, 8th). The match was totally the advantage of the Madrilenians who combine easily around a Griezmann of the great evenings. Nevertheless, Diego Simeone's players do not manage to make the break, because of Sorloth, too clumsy in front of the goal. Note the premature exit of Cabella, replaced by Zhegrova.
After the break, Diakité replaced the young Touré and Lille tried their luck. Zhegrova took advantage of the space left and tried her special. The winger curled the ball with her left foot and beat Oblak, who was beaten. Les Dogues equalised (1-1, 61st) but did not stop there. The match continued and a controversial decision changed the outcome of the game. With a quarter of an hour to go in regular time, Marco Guida awarded a penalty in favour of Lille for handball, which was seen by VAR. David strikes right in the middle and Oblak concedes the second goal of the evening (1-2, 74th). The Colchoneros are exposed and the substitute Sahraoui makes a difference in the left corridor. He crosses but the goalkeeper pushes it back to Gudmundsson who passes it to David who strikes with his left foot. It is deflected and the ball ends up in the back of the net. Lille achieve a major feat at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano. In two weeks, they will host Juventus Turin to take an option towards direct qualification in the round of 16.
After two matches against Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid, Lille will host Juventus Turin on Tuesday, November 5, on matchday four of the Champions League. For its part, Atlético Madrid will travel to Paris to face PSG.
With this second victory in a row, Lille moves up to 15th place in the standings, one point behind Sporting Portugal, the last team directly qualified for the round of 16.
This Wednesday evening, Jonathan David scored his 5th and 6th goals in the Lille jersey, at least twice as many as any other Losc player.
Olivier Létang, the president of Losc on Canal+: "It's always difficult to analyse in the heat of the moment. Winning here is a very great performance. We must congratulate the work of the entire club, the coach. We had an unexpected start but the victory was well deserved.”
This year, Lille took the scalp of the two big Madrid teams in the Champions League. A historic and major performance for the northern club that can still dream of a great run in C1.

We knew how to change sides and get into our game. We may not have played the perfect match but we played the one we needed to win. On the two chances we had, we knew how to make the difference”.
It ended at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano where Lille wins 3-1 against Atlético Madrid and leaves Spain with three important points.
After a pass from Gudmundsson, Sahraoui rakes the ball in front of Griezmann before trying the little bridge on De Paul.
After David's goal, there will be six minutes of added time.
After being led, Lille now lead 3-1! On the side left, Sahraoui makes the difference and takes advantage of a favorable counter before centering. It is pushed back by Oblak but Gudmundsson passes with his right foot. David controls and shoots. It is controlled and Oblak is beaten.
For the last minutes of the match, Sahraoui and Gomes replace Fernandez-Pardo and Mukau.
Unstoppable since his entry into play, Samuel Lino once again finds the gap in his left wing. His cross is pushed back but the ball comes back to the feet of Simeone who strikes with his right. Lucas Chevalier is beaten but Alexsandro pushes it back with his left thigh. The defender celebrates this defensive action as a goal.
On the side left, Samuel Lino provokes Meunier and crosses back for Angel Correa who controls before hitting on the volley. The Argentinian's attempt is too crossed.
Less than ten minutes before the end of regulation time, Marco Guida keeps the whistle in his mouth. He whistles many fouls in this tense end of the match.
On a free kick, De Paul sends a long cross towards Reinildo, beaten by Thomas Meunier who puts his foot in the air and hits his opposite number. The debates are heated: Meunier and Gimenez are shown a yellow card.
After the Lille goal, Lino, Simeone and Reinildo replace Gallagher, Molina and Galan.
Struck right in the middle, Jonathan David's penalty ends up in the back of the net a quarter of an hour before the end of regulation time.
On the bench, Diego Simeone is furious. The coach has just been given a warning.
After a review by the video assistants, the penalty in favor of Lille is confirmed.
Marco Guida doesn't hesitate and awards a penalty for Lille after a Madrid handball. The action will certainly be reviewed.
After a slide, Axel Witsel loses his footing and keeps the ball on the ground. He doesn't get a yellow card even though he ended a Lille action.
Javi Galan's cross towards Antoine Griezmann who heads it back. Lucas Chevalier deflects Julian Alvarez's pigeon wing into a corner.
For the Colchoneros, Angel Correa replaces Sorloth while Bayo gives up his place to Jonathan David for Lille.
Edon Zhegrova has a magical left foot! After a service from Thomas Meunier, the winger curls it to the edge of the area. It is slightly deflected by Gimenez's head and Oblak cannot avoid the equalizer.
