Les membres du bureau et des bénévoles qui se sont investis sans compter depuis des années. Midi Libre – C. C.
The association's general meeting was held this Sunday, January 19. The members of the current board wish to end their commitment. They will leave a healthy association to a future team. It is therefore an important chapter that they intend to close in this year 2025.
The Boulega Collective board has been calling for new blood for several years. In vain. The association's general meeting was held this Sunday, January 19, in a small group, in the brand new recording studio of La Moba. The Collective, as a legal entity, is a cooperator of the cultural cooperative. The members of the current board have been supporting the association since 2019, and, while there are many volunteers when there are events, organizing concerts or a festival like Zion requires a significant investment for months. “It's hard to reorganize events. Regulatory pressure and responsibilities are increasingly demanding year after year for events with more than 500 people”,President Paul Guillaud said in particular. The 10th Zion Garden, in 2022, was therefore the last. In 2017, the Carmignan site attracted 5,000 festival-goers… In 2023, the collective organized a Garden party, which was sold out (500 people), which led Luc Parayre, who hosts these events on his Carmignan site, to say: “There is a high expectation.” But even for a smaller evening, the work involved in advance is colossal.

“All our driving forces are at La Moba year-round and at the La Goud'Vibe festival in July, explained Marion Kesler, vice-president. We can't do everything.” Clearly, “we, the current office, wish to end our commitment”, said Claire Diebold, assistant secretary, who recalled, like Luc Parayre, that the Boulega Collective has already experienced, since its creation in October 2001, different cycles led by different teams.“The end of our participation does not mean the end of the collective, Claire clarified. We are making sure that there is a possible future.” By leaving a healthy situation.
A surplus of cash thanks to the success of the last edition of Zion Garden
In 2024, the members of the collective cleaned the land that hosted ten editions of Zion Garden. A work that the team will continue this year. It also plans to maintain the equipment acquired or donated over the years, take inventory of it and think about the future of this equipment. So “if there are people interested in taking over the association…”.
The office is offering a “final concert”, a final Zion Town, and not the least, with the arrival of Israel Vibration, a legendary Jamaican reggae group, on Thursday, April 3 at La Moba. “To close this chapter”, the members of the collective also want to organize an evening for volunteers in the spring.
The financial report presented by treasurer Sylviane Kesler is healthy, even if the March 2024 evening organized by the Collective at La Moba was in deficit by €800. At the end of the 2024 financial year, the deficit is €2,068 (€700 of insurance among operating expenses). But the association has €3,800 in its current account and €36,800 in its savings account (thanks to the last edition of the Zion Garden festival). A nice sum thanks to the enormous 100% volunteer investment of a festival that had everything of a great one. And which allows the Collective to be serene for the future.
This meeting was also marked by a lot of emotion: Florence, a loyal volunteer with a big heart, left for other skies at the beginning of 2025.
