Basketball: “It's good for the soul”, “keep it like a treasure”, reactions after the San Antonio Spurs' defeat in Paris

Despite a heavy defeat in the 2nd NBA game in Paris against Indiana (98-136), the French basketball player of the San Antonio Spurs was happy with this experience.

Victor Wembanyama (San Antonio Spurs center): “This week has been incredible, full of emotions,” said a slightly moved Victor Wembanyama. “Everyone did everything they could to make it exceptional. It made me very happy. Mentally, it feels good to find your roots again. It's priceless, it will help you fuel up for the rest of the season. As a team, it made us grow. I don't know if I've entered the hearts of the French, it will happen naturally, it's a ten-year adventure with the French public, there's no rush. This kind of experience makes you grow, it's good for the soul more than for the player.”

Chris Paul (San Antonio point guard): “I can't imagine what it must have been like for him to come home and play that game, the excitement and the responsibility that comes with it. We would have loved to win both games for him. You're lucky to have him for years to come. Make sure you don't just take care of him, but treasure him.”

“Thank you Paris”

Pascal Siakam (Pacers center): “We know that Victor (Wembanyama) is a huge talent and has what it takes to be one of the greatest players. The first game was a little easier for him. The only chance you have to contain him is by making everything difficult for him. The crowd was fantastic, the welcome was warm, thank you Paris for everything.”

Tyrese Haliburton (Pacers point guard): “I wouldn't say this trip was a break, I didn't sleep all week, I was excited to be there. (On his 16-point streak) When I'm hot, I want it to continue. And as long as it's coming, I keep going. It was a good team performance from us. San Antonio played harder and we battled, we did a good job.”
