The French government has just invented a new way to take money from taxpayers. It can be said that it is not good to be a car driver or a biker at the moment.

Between the fact of not being able to wash your car in front of your home or this new radar which particularly penalizes two-wheel owners, road users regularly feel cheated. The ever more restrictive rules imposed in the name of road safety are getting longer, and the information we are sending you today should not particularly please you.

Reserved lanes for the 2024 Olympics

Today we are on July 15 and that's the end of the party. Indeed, new types of routes were launched today and will be active 24 hours a day until August 13, then from August 30 to September 8, 2024 . It will therefore be necessary to be particularly attentive to their use during these periods.

These ways are of course the portions of roads reserved for the Paris Olympics taking place this summer. Obviously, these are not road elements that have been added, but lanes previously open to all now requisitioned in the name of sporting events. Enough to infuriate many road users, who already regularly experience difficult traffic on many roads in France.

135 euros fine in the event of improper use of track

These tracks still represent 185 km in the Paris region, particularly on the side of Charles de Gaulle airport, the A4 and the A13. As one could easily imagine, the Paris ring road is not spared either.

It's rather simple, only people authorized by the organizing committee of the Olympic Games and of the Paralympic Games have the right to travel on these newly reserved portions. Driving on the track without having accreditation amounts to a fourth class fine of 135 euros, reduced to 90 euros in the event of payment within 15 days .

The observation is made automatically by a new type of radar installed on this occasion. Suffice it to say that you absolutely must avoid driving on these roads without being invited, if you do not want to see your vacation budget melt away like snow in the sun.

How to recognize these lanes to avoid fines ?

It is not always easy to recognize the lanes reserved for the Olympics imposed to streamline traffic for certain privileged people. Thus, they are often materialized by a marking on the ground indicating “ 2024 Paris ”, but also by a blue square-shaped sign indicating a use reserved for authorized vehicles only.

According to your servant's observations during trips made today, there are still a lot of probably unauthorized motorists traveling on these lanes, thus exposing themselves to a hefty fine. With this article, I would like to inform you so that you can pay extra attention to the roads concerned.

If we believe the rumors concerning the Paris town hall, the ways reserved for the Olympics could be converted into lanes dedicated to carpooling after the end of the sporting events. We will therefore have to get used to the lane limitations from now on.

  • July 15 marks the start of reserved lanes to streamline traffic towards the Paris 2024 Olympic Games
  • In order to be able to use these 185 km of track, you must have accreditation provided by the organizing committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games
  • New automatic radars have been installed in order to ferret out offenders, who are exposed to a fine of 135 euros
