The first phase has been inaugurated, work will continue in 2025.

Despite a very cold wind, this Friday, December 20, Mayor Sébastien Frey, surrounded by the sub-prefect, the general councilors, the deputy and the members of the municipal council, inaugurated the upper part of the Promenade.

The public responded to this event. The chief magistrate recalled that the State contributed “in a significant way”to the financing of the renovation work on the Promenade, also contributing to the action plan for the revitalization of the historic center. Nearly €35 million was invested in this project. The mayor did not forget the Region, which supported the City of Agde for this development, and the president of the association of traders in the heart of the city, who brings real dynamism to the development of this historic center. “The heart of the city will become a prosperous district again” launched Sébastien Frey. “Today, we are inaugurating this first phase of the beautification work on the Promenade, it is a place where people have historically liked to meet.” The mayor then emphasized the objective of the work: to make this place more beautiful but also to open up the historic center to the entire municipality. He then presented the future works and developments of the Promenade with the launch, in January, of the second phase of the works.

“This project will continue with the support of the Agglo Hérault-Méditerranée. We have taken the initiative to initiate a procedure that will rehabilitate all the facades of the buildings on the promenade.” Aid amounting to 80% of the works is proposed and already 11 buildings will begin renovation. The archaeological excavations are finished and an underground car park with 90 spaces will be created at the beginning of the year. Nineteen shops will arrive soon to complement the 11 already installed. Housing and a medical center will make this city center more dynamic.
