In the middle of the Christmas holidays, Netflix is preparing to give its subscribers a nice gift. It is in fact on December 29 that the series derived from La Casa de Papel: Berlin will be released. This original creation will look back on the past of this emblematic character who over time became very close to the famous professor.

What will the series be about?

This production is a prequel which will show us the journey of Andrés de Fonollosa before he meets his mentor. We are therefore dealing with a hero in the prime of his life when we left him dying. The trailer, recently unveiled by the streaming service, allows us to see him in action.

We are dealing with a very gifted and intelligent crook. According to the first elements we have, he should be found in Paris hatching a plan to steal 44 million euros from one of the largest auction houses in the capital. Photos that have been released show him wearing one of the uniforms of this establishment.

Speaking on the series, Álex Pina, who was already the creator of La Casa de Papelexplained: “We always sought for the protagonists to have a very complex personality. So I think almost all of our characters have a duality that we would love to see in a spinoff series. We could look at each of them in other contexts.”

What casting for Berlin?

Pedro Alonso returns to his role from Berlin where he excelled in the original series. Alongside him, we find Michelle Jenner (Julieta), Begoña Vargas (Alta Mar) and Tristán Ulloa (Narcos). Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri) and Raquel Murillo (Itziar Ituno) are also returning to Berlin and, although there has been no official confirmation, we can imagine that they will return to their respective characters.

Also note that Alex Pina reunites with his colleague Esther Martínez Lobato who wrote numerous episodes of the Spanish saga. So we only have a few weeks left to wait before the broadcast of Berlin. To wait, you can watch the Korean remake of the original creation: Money Heist: Korea which is also available on Netflix.

Will you watch this spin-off of < em>La Casa de Papel ? Or do you think, on the contrary, that the streaming platform has exploited the vein of this franchise a little too much? Feel free to give your point of view in the comments.
