Frenchwoman Lou Jeanmonnot won the first individual race of the season on Wednesday, a 12.5 km short individual in Kontiolahti (Finland), with a 20 out of 20 in shooting.

Jeanmonnot (26 years old) won ahead of two Swedes, Ella Halvarsson, second at 12''30 with a shooting fault, and Elvira Oeberg, third at 56''40 after a 17 out of 20, and therefore wears the yellow bib of World Cup leader. This is his fifth World Cup victory, after four firsts last winter.
