“Bigger and more powerful”. Like this the future Nintendo Switch 2 ?

A few months ago, Nintendo made official the existence of its new video game console. The one called Nintendo Switch 2 should be marketed during the first months of 2025. A machine that should not stray much from the current Nintendo Switch, and which should even largely take over its design, while obviously boosting its technical sheet. A “big Nintendo Switch but more powerful” in short ? This is what all the rumors suggest, including those coming from a prop maker who recently had access to very precise plans of the console.

A bulkier Nintendo Switch 2?

Indeed, according to SwitchUp, some accessory makers have already received very precise information regarding the new Nintendo Switch 2. This, of course, is to allow them to develop the new accessories to come, starting with screen protectors for example or even carrying cases. The magazine thus received what would be a Nintendo Switch 2, printed in 3D.

Which initially confirms the larger size of the screen of the future Nintendo console, which should spread out on a diagonal of 8″. On top of the machine, there should be a widened grille to evacuate the hot air accumulated inside, while the volume buttons would be slightly more compact. The 3.5 mm jack port remains positioned in the same place.

Added to this is the presence of a USB-C port directly on the top of the machine, in addition to the one already present under the console. Practical for playing in tabletop mode, while charging the machine. As for the joy-con, the new models are slightly wider, with a more rounded side than ever. This should delight large hands.

The layout of the buttons and joysticks remains identical, however, with the exception of a brand new button that appears on the right joy-con, alongside the capture button. Now we'll see if the latter will actually be there, and what its use will be.

At the moment, it is difficult to know more, officially that is, about this new upcoming Nintendo console. We already know that the latter will be backward compatible with Switch games already available, with a cartridge reader present on this mockup, the size of which is slightly larger than that of the current Nintendo Switch.

It should be noted that while some dreamed of seeing the Nintendo Switch 2 presented at the Game Awards, this was ultimately not the case, Nintendo not having received the slightest award during this evening which dedicated Astro Bot as Game of the Year 2024.
