Brive – ASBH: with this point won, Béziers continues to run the machine and keeps a precise statistic

Spread the love

ASBH did more than compete with the second in the general classification, CA Brive, this Friday, November 6 (15-10), a match counting for the 13th day of Pro D2.

ASBH rhymes with stain. Like the one that resists all possible washing. No matter the ground where it ventures, it leaves a mark. In Brive, although solid second in Pro D2 before kick-off, Pierre Caillet's men once again left a memory. They went to get a valuable and deserved defensive bonus, where many will break their teeth.

A point that makes Béziers the sole holder of a statistic that is fairly representative of its state of mind. The figure in question ? 13. Like the number of days played since the start of the season, and where the Biterrois have systematically brought back at least one point. In France, only Toulouse (obviously), in Top 14, does as well.

Missed chances

In the cool, damp and hostile Amédée-Domenech stadium, a stadium where an Englishman is king, in the person of captain Courtney Lawes (110 caps), Charly Malié's gang did almost everything their staff expected of them. First, keep their heads down when the Brivistes started off with a bang, like this potential try in the 5th minute. Then, don't panic in the face of the precise occupation play of the premises. Finally, they had to seize every opportunity that presented itself.

On this last point, the Red and Blue sinned. In difficulty in the scrum (2 penalties, 2 broken arms) and in touch (6 lost throws), the Héraultais game struggled to fully express itself, despite the mischievous moves of the Marques-Malié hinge. Two missed penalties (19th, 65th), a missed penalty touch by Gabin Lorre (72nd) and a last throw not right (80th) on the 22m line prevented Béziers from hoping for better than a defensive bonus. Enough to express some regrets, especially since many of these actions would have allowed us to get ahead.

Certainly, the momentum of the four consecutive victories has stopped in Corrèze. But the accounting machine continues to turn. And the ASBH continues to move forward.

I subscribe to read the rest
