The old pipeline did not survive. Built in stone in the 1950s, this “historical network collapsed”, according to the Metropolis, with the construction of a section of the famous cycle ring, perpendicular to Broussonnet, and this all the more so since the cow stream passes nearby, invisible on the surface but which flows underground over 3 m by 2 m. Already dilapidated and weakened, the old stone masonry network has given way. We can therefore better understand the work that requires the closure of rue Auguste-Broussonnet, which runs alongside Saint-Charles and the Institute of Botany. And this work will last. The time to install a 50 cm diameter pipe over nearly 100 meters. The return to normal is announced for March 28.

“Urgently”

“This work is essential to reestablishing water flow in this sector in order to limit the risk of polluted water being discharged into the Verdanson”, indicates the Métropole which had to undertake “urgently” this renovation of the network, at a cost of €350,000.

Until then, this part of rue Broussonnet is closed to traffic and motorists arriving from Philippidès and wishing to go to the institute Botany, for example, must bypass the construction site via Avenue Bouisson-Bertrand, go up Quai des Tanneurs and Quai du Verdanson and return via Place Albert-Ier.
