#PYRENEES-ORIENTALES – The Catalan singer Cali was elected president of Frontera Production on October 23. He replaces David Garcia, founder of Déferlantes, in this position of standard-bearer of this structure which brings together the Déferlantes (Barcarès), Bacchus (Argelès-sur-Mer), Pellicu-live (Thuir) and Live au Campo (Perpignan) festivals. David Garcia remains the programmer of these four festivals.“I was elected unanimously, it's a source of pride. But also a responsibility, because I am well aware of the difficulties encountered by these major events”, declared the artist.

Collioure will shine brightly for the festivities

#PYRENEES-ORIENTALES – For the end-of-year celebrations, the monuments of the city of Collioure will be adorned with a thousand lights for more than three weeks. From this Friday, December 13 until January 5, 2024, every evening at 6 p.m., the royal castle, the church and the bell tower will offer a scenographic spectacle by unveiling living canvases by the Brazilian artist Gaspare Di Caro. For this 2nd edition, a musical accompaniment mixing Christmas carols and Catalan songs will punctuate the projections. Last year, the event brought together more than 110,000 visitors. This year, the municipality, supported by the Pyrénées-Orientales departmental council, decided to go the extra mile with 8,500 m² of illuminated facades.

#AVEYRON – This is the number of kilos of glass sorted on average by Aveyronnais in one year. Since 2021, there has been a significant drop in the tonnages collected in the department. A campaign called “Let’s sort glass”, launched on November 26, 2024, aims to “relaunch the act of sorting glass, explains Matthieu Mezzacasa, engineer at Sydom in Aveyron. School truancy in court

#NARBONNE – This Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the Narbonne court, around forty cases were examined, including parents who were accused of only one offense: not having justified their child's absences from school or college. At the hearing, a mother from Lézignan who did not notify the school of the absence without legitimate reason of her 14-year-old son during the months of September and October 2023. For the second case, whose parents are absent but represented: a young girl, then aged 14, enrolled in college in Narbonne, but not often enough in class without justification for at least 44 absences. The public prosecutor demanded 100 euros per fine for each parent, it was reduced to 50 € by the court. In any case, the public prosecutor, Éric Camous, has no intention of playing truant in his quest against school absenteeism.

Geek culture this weekend

#ALES – Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 December 2024, the 4th edition of the Ceven’Geek Week trade fair is being held at the Méjannes-lès-Alès exhibition centre. Last year, the festival “exceeded the 8,000 visitor mark”, says Krim Mekrarbech, president of the Ceven Anim association. This year again, multimedia geek culture will be in the spotlight, with its television series, manga, video games, cosplays and others. Enough to attract a wide audience, “from 6 to 60 years old” , smiles the initiator of the show. Among the guests, Saturday, we will find Patrick Puydebat, from the series Hélène et les garçons. The next day, the YouTubers Lebouseuh and Dobby will be there. In parallel, a multitude of animations are planned.
